Screening of the documentary "From Pharaohs to Facebook: Egypt Today," on Thursday, March 19th at the exclusive Soho House screening room. The film will be preceded by a cash-bar reception.

The film, part of the 2009 Great Decisions Television Series for PBS, examines the role of one of the most critical U.S. allies in the greater Middle East, and features interviews in Cairo with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmet Abul Gheit, Arab League Secretary-General Amre Moussa and former Ambassador to the U.S. Nabil Fahmy, among others.

The documentary also features commentary from Jimmy Carter on Camp David and the Middle East peace process, and Christiane Amanpour on the Muslim Brotherhood and U.S. efforts to promote democracy in the region, based on her reporting for CNN's "God's Warriors” series.

The film, which documents Egypt's rapid economic and social transformation over the past decade, will be followed by a Q&A with Bruce Rutherford, author of the companion Great Decisions article on Egypt, as well as the book, "Egypt After Mubarak: Liberalism, Islam, and Democracy in the Arab World.
