Dr. Julia Sweig, the Nelson and David Rockefeller Senior Fellow for Latin American Studies and Director for Latin American Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, will be at a Foreign Policy Association-sponsored event on January 13, 2010 at Grupo Santander, speaking on her recently published book, Cuba: What Everyone Needs to Know.
We’ve referred to Dr. Sweig before on this blog, once to briefly discuss this particular book, and once to talk about her excellent Washington Post called, “Don’t just close Gitmo: Give it back.”
See her speak! She is an expert on Cuba and has the rare ability to make an intelligent, rational argument on a topic that is so often emotionally and politically charged.
Location: Grupo Santander, 45 E. 53rd St. (between Park and Madison Avenues), NYC
Time: Registration at 5:30 PM, lecture at 6 PM. Book signing to follow.
Admission: FPA members—free; guest of FPA member—$15; OTR patron—$15; Non-member—$25; student—$5.
