About the Speaker

Zafar Brooks joined Hyundai Motor America in January 2005 as Western Region General Manager.  In that role, he was responsible for sales, marketing, distribution, and franchising for the company’s Western states.  In December 2006, he was named Director of General Affairs, in charge of Government Relations and Diversity Inclusion. In 2007, Brooks’ Hyundai duties were expanded to include Corporate Social Responsibility. In that role, he oversees all of Hyundai North America corporate giving and leads the company’s largest philanthropic effort - a program called Hope on Wheels, a non-profit Foundation.  He manages daily operations for the HOW Foundation, develops strategic direction, and manages grant requests. In 2008, Brooks created a Hyundai’s Scholars grant program, which provides funding for research in pediatric cancer. In 2010, Brooks expanded the program to include the largest philanthropic effort to date for Hyundai, with an initiative to raise funds and create awareness for pediatric cancer during the month of September - National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  The successful campaign – Hyundai Hope Grant – continues today and has raised over $51 million under Brooks’ watch.
