In the wake of five Israeli citizens being murdered in a brutal terror attack in a Jerusalem synagogue, the Palestinian Authority leadership and media continue to call for violence against Israeli civilians.
This week, two Palestinian terrorists broke into a Jerusalem synagogue, slaughtering 4 worshipers and a Druze police officer who came to save the lives of the Jewish worshipers inside. However, Palestinian Media Watch reported that incitement emanating from the Palestinian Authority led to this terror attack.
A week before this terror attack, Palestinian daily Al Hayat Al Jadida singled out Jewish rabbis as the main enemy of the Palestinian people: “The danger posed by Israel remains the greatest and most significant of all and the first threat]we must come out against. For the Zionist settler ideology does not seek temporary influence or gains, and does not strive to exploit and exhaust resources, but rather sets the foundations for an eternal hegemony based on the instructions of the ‘rabbis’ of the secret societies. And all this is in order to take revenge on history and their minority and false persecution complex.”
The article falsely accuses Israel of seeking to desecrate the Al Aqsa Mosque and proclaimed that Israel is behind all of the world’s dangers, an anti-semitic libel: “It is Al-Aqsa that they are desecrating, Al-Aqsa- not the grave of a Turkish sultan or turbaned foreigner — it is Al-Aqsa that is calling you. These are [our] enemies, and they have a hand in everything that is happening: in the issue of ISIS [Islamic State] and its arming, in importing explosives to the Arab lands, in the spread of extremist ideas and the deepening of the doctrinal conflict between Sunnis and Shiites. In addition, they are the ones creating the crises. They are the ones igniting the civil wars.”
Following the terror attack, while Abu Mazen himself condemned the terror attack, his adviser and Fatah Central Committee member Sultan Abu Al Einan praised and glorified it: “Peace be upon you, oh children of Jerusalem. Oh, those who carry out Ribat (religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) in the plazas of the first direction of prayer of Allah (i.e. the Al-Aqsa Mosque) in the name of your people and your Arab nation… Blessed be your quality weapons, the wheels of your cars, your axes and kitchen knives. By Allah, these are stronger than the arsenals of our enemy, because [they are being used] according to Allah’s will. We are the soldiers of Allah.”
According to a report in MEMRI, Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi blamed Netanyahu for the Jerusalem synagogue massacre in Har Nof, while PFLP Secretary General Abu Ahmed Fouad libelously alleged: “That synagogue is a kind of command center for the planning of acts of aggression against our people and our holy places. This is no prayer synagogue. Otherwise, how can we account for the presence of American and British citizens there?” Hamas political bureau member Osama Hamdan even claimed that settlers are not civilians and therefore the synagogue attack was legitimate. It is important to note that the synagogue is located in Har Nof, which is within the green line in west Jerusalem.
These are just a select sample of the incitement that took place within the Palestinian Authority leading up to the synagogue terror attack in Jerusalem and immediately afterwards. Until the incitement ceases and the education for peace begins, the prospects of peace being obtained between Palestinians and Israelis appears more distant than ever.
