Jibril Rajoub, the head of the Palestinian Authority Sports Authority and the Deputy Secretary of the Fatah Central Committee, recently called for all Jews who live in settlements to be slaughtered. He has a known record of inciting against Israel.
Jibril Rajoub, the head of the Palestinian Authority Sports Authority and the Deputy Secretary of the Fatah Central Committee, announced that Fatah has made a “political decision” to support slaughtering Jews who live in settlements, Palestinian Media Watch reported.
As Rajoub stated on Adwah television, “I’m telling everyone: Fatah has decided that our relations with the Israelis are relations between enemies. There is no kind of coordination between the Israelis and us. Everyone can be certain that any form of mutual coordination ended a day after they declared war on the National Unity Government.”
According to Rajoub, “OK, brother, here is the occupation, am I stopping you from slaughtering a settlement? No one is stopping anyone. Don’t lie and tell me: ‘the [PA] Security Forces and Mahmoud Abbas,’ and so on stop you. Drop it, OK? No one is stopping anyone. Our political decision is resistance in the occupied territories in order to bring an end to the occupation using all forms of resistance.”
Many in the west have viewed Fatah as a peace partner for Israel. Numerous members of the international community, including the United States, have recently discussed having the Palestinian Authority led by Fatah control Gaza and from there, to proceed to have negotiations for a two-state solution to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It is part of a draft proposal at the UN Security Council as we speak. However, Palestinian Media Watch stresses that the messages Fatah sends to the world in Arabic are different from what they say in English.
Jibril Rajoub in particular has a long record of inciting against Israel. In the past, he stated that he supports dropping nuclear bombs on Israel if the Palestinian Authority ever possessed such weapons. He views all of Israel “from the river to the sea” to be “occupied.” He does not follow the international consensus based on UN Security Council Resolution 242. This UN Security Council resolution recognizes Israel’s right to exist within the pre-1967 armistice lines as well as Israel’s right to claim some territories within the West Bank and Jerusalem, so that Israel can obtain “secure and recognized borders.”
At one point, Rajoub stated that he wanted Executive Committee members to fly to Jordan just so that they won’t have to fly over Israel because he didn’t want them to see any “Jews, Satan’s, and Zionist sons of bitches.” He claimed, “Whoever invades our territory will leave in a wooden plank (i.e., in a coffin). This land is our land… Out of loyalty to your blood, Yasser Arafat, […] we will not return the sword to its sheath until there is a state… Resistance is Fatah’s strategic right – in all its forms.”
Rajoub has also stated that it is racist to commemorate the Israeli athletes who were murdered by Palestinian terrorists during the 1972 Olympic Massacre. Furthermore, he has equivocated a terrorist throwing a hand grenade and building schools as equal forms of legitimate activism. Rajoub is ideologically opposed to any peace and normalization with Israel.
