WAC/N.O. is statewide coordinator of the Foreign Policy Association's Great Decisions discussion program. This is the nations's oldest and most popular program of citizen education in world affairs. The cornerstone of the GD program is the annual briefing book that is prepared by FPA editors. The book analyzes eight topics of current international importance. The articles provide background, policy options, recommended readings, discussion questions, llustrations, and maps. A diverse group of organizations participate in the GD program, including local universities, community centers, social groups, and nursing homes.
The topics for 2006 are UN Reform, The U.S. & Iran, Energy, Brazil, China & India, Human Rights in an Age of Terrorism, Turkey, and Pandemics & Security.
