One of my fellow FPA bloggers has invited me to note a new film that may be of interest to the U.S. Role readership. Sean Patrick Murphy’s Global Film Review blog recently screened the “Battle for Haditha” film, directed by Nick Broomfield, and recommends the film as a dramatic and insightful portrayal of a roadside bombing told from the perspective of both sides in the conflict. I’ve not seen the film, so I won’t say anything more except to question if the film is about the attack on a Marine sniper unit in 2005 that has come to be called the Battle of Haditha or if the producers and directors took a bit of license to give that name to the bombing incident their film explores. I don’t have the answer to that, but I’ll let you know once I see the film. The film is available now on DVD.
