Event Description

Dr. Courtney B. Smith is the Dean of the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University, where he has been a faculty member since 1999. He achieved tenure in 2005 and served as Acting Dean from 2019 to 2022 before his appointment as Dean. Dr. Smith has authored several works on its political processes and its relationship with the United States, including his book Politics and Process at the United Nations: The Global Dance (2006). His research has been published in journals such as Global Governance and the International Journal of Peace Studies, and in 2020, he authored the article "Every Silver Lining Has a Cloud: Working Methods of the U.N. Security Council." He is a board member of the Academic Council on the United Nations System and the American Conference of Academic Deans. Dr. Smith holds a Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations from The Ohio State University.
