Peter G. Peterson Distinguished Lecture on National Security and Fiscal Policy with Dr. Lori Esposito Murray, Senior Fellow for National Security and Managing Director of CEO Programs at the Council on Foreign Relations. In this insightful talk, Dr. Murray highlights the importance of U.S. global leadership and the dominance of the dollar in maintaining national security. She discusses the unsustainable trajectory of the national debt, projected to reach alarming levels in the coming years, and its implications for economic stability and defense priorities. Dr. Murray examines the challenges posed by both domestic fiscal mismanagement and international competitors, particularly China and Russia, and emphasizes the urgent need for action to avert a looming fiscal crisis. Focusing on historical context and contemporary geopolitical dynamics, she calls for a paradigm shift in how we approach national debt, urging collaboration between political leaders and the business community. As the lecture unfolds, Dr. Murray invites questions, sparking a lively discussion on the future of U.S. economic and national security strategies. Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights into one of the most pressing issues of our time.
