The Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition, which initially started in 2001, is named after Henry Dunant, the co-founder of the ICRC and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It is one of the most popular IHL events in the South Asian region. The regional round of the competition is attended by seven countries including Iran. Each national team reaches the regional competition after winning their national rounds. The national competitions can have up to 64 teams competing.

The principal objective of this competition is to develop knowledge and interest in IHL in academic institutions throughout South Asia. It also aims to promote academic excellence in the students’ community, and to develop their advocacy skills in an atmosphere of friendly competition.
