Outlook 2013: Korea’s Sovereign Credit Rating
Tom Byrne, Senior VP, and Asia-Pacific Manager of Moody’s Sovereign Risk Group, examines Korea’s sovereign credit rating on the eve of a new administration in Seoul. Mr. Byrne analyzes Korea’s economic and fiscal fundamentals, the government’s balance sheet, as well as levels of debt and the overall impact on Korea’s sovereign credit ratings for the remainder of 2013.

About the Speaker
Thomas J. Byrne is a Senior Vice President and Asia-Pacific Manager of the Sovereign Risk Group of Moody’s Financial Institutions and Sovereign Risk Group in New York where he is primarily responsible for the ratings of the major East Asian economies, namely Japan, Korea and China as well as the Southeast Asian economies. Before joining Moody’s in 1996, he was the Senior Economist of the Asia Department of the Institute of International Finance in Washington, D.C. He graduated from The Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies, where he studied international economics; before graduate studies, he served for three years as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Korea.
