Great Decisions Lecture Series:The Prospects for Korean Reunification (Video)

At the end of World War II, Korea was divided. The northern half of the Korean peninsula was occupied by the Soviet Union, the southern by the United States. Today, North and South Korea couldn’t be further apart. The North is underdeveloped, impoverished and ruled by an authoritarian regime, while the South advanced rapidly to become one of the most developed countries in the world. With such a wide gap, some are asking if unification is possible, even desirable, anymore?

Please join the Foreign Policy Association and the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College for a panel exploring the current prospects for Korean reunification. Panelists include: Dr. Patrick M. Cronin, Senior Advisor and Senior Director of the Asia-Pacific Security Program at the Center for a New American Security; Ambassador Gheewhan Kim, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in New York; and Scott A. Snyder, Senior Fellow for Korean Studies and Director of the Program on U.S.-Korea Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations,. The panel will be moderated by Evans J.R. Revere, Senior Advisor at the Albright Stonebridge Group and former President of the Korea Society. Registration will begin at 5:30 pm and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
