FPA’s John B. Hurford Memorial Lecture 2026- Vasant Dhar

Please join the Foreign Policy Association for the annual John B. Hurford Memorial Lecture on Thursday, May 21st, 2026 at the SUNY Global Center, located at 116 E 55th Street. This year’s lecture will be delivered by Dr. Vasant Dhar. Dr. Dhar is a Professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business, where he specializes in artificial intelligence, data science, and decision-making systems. He is also the founder of the Center for Business Analytics at NYU Stern and a leading voice on the economic and societal implications of AI and algorithms. His new book Thinking with Machines: The Brave New World of AI, Vasant Dhar traces the evolution of artificial intelligence—from its early foundations to today’s machine-learning systems—while examining its promises, risks, and the governance challenges needed to ensure it benefits society broadly. Copies of Thinking With Machines will be available for purchase and signing after the lecture.
