2023 FPA/SUNY Global Engagement Speaker Series

Please join the Foreign Policy Association and the SUNY Global Engagement Program for the FPA-SUNY Global Engagement  Speaker Series, delivered by Ms. Jessica Faieta, Senior Fellow at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affiars and a graduate of SUNY New Paltz. The lecture will have a reception to follow. 

The title of her lecture will be “Is Latin America the most violent region in the world?” The homicide rates in Latin America and the Caribbean continue to be among the highest in the world. How is crime, gang violence and drug trafficking affecting development in the Region? How is citizen insecurity interlinked with challenges to governance, democracy and migration flows in the continent? Faieta uses various data sources to analyze the situation and to reflect on policy choices. 

Check-in will begin at 5:30pm, and the lecture will begin at 6:00pm.
