Event Transcripts and Video

Former Chairman of Barclays Capital America Archibald Cox moderated a World Leadership Forum Panel on the Global Economic Outlook at the Foreign Policy Association on October 19th, 2011. Mr. Cox was joined by panelists Larry Kantor, Managing Director and Head of Research at Barclays Capital, and Abby Joseph Cohen, Chief U.S. Investment Strategist at Goldman Sachs.  Both warned of the gravity of the European debt crisis and challenges to U.S. growth, touching upon domestic issues of Medicare costs and policy debates surrounding the debt ceiling.

“The much more interesting dilemma we all face as citizens, is what we’re going to do to make sure that, on a long term basis, this nation returns to its potential growth rate.” – Abby Cohen

In a heated question and answer debate, Mr. Kantor defended the banking sector by emphasizing the role of the government in the financial crisis. Watch the videos below for more expert opinion on the future of the global economy, including challenges ahead and unique suggestions for solutions.
