Event Transcripts and Video

The Foreign Policy Association (FPA) produced “Africa’s Burgeoning Media Sector,” a panel hosted by Newsweek & The Daily Beast Editor Tina Brown as part of the Newsweek Breakfast Club Monday, October 15, 2012. The forum was a continuation of “The New Business of Africa” series.

"We are happy to take the dialogue on Africa's economic transformation forward with more granularity. This discussion of media was an important part of that and we look forward to more sector specific panels in the series," said FPA Whitehead Fellow Jake Bright.

Following FPA’s successful March 2012 forum and corresponding article on Africa’s rapidly changing business environment, the panel explored core dynamics of the African media sector with veteran journalist Lola Ogunnaike  as moderator and panelists Africa.com CEO Teresa Clarke , Sahara Reporters Founder Omoyele Sowore, and Africa Channel Executive Vice President Mark Walton.
