      Executive Director and CFO - Global Recruitment Specialists

       

      Patrick Shields is the Executive Director and CFO of Global Recruitment Specialists. An accomplished recruiter and manager with demonstrated operational ability to administer human resource services to decentralized worldwide offices, he has recognized expertise in high volume, multinational, hands-on recruiting and staffing.

      Patrick was the Manager of Recruitment & Staffing with CARE International in New York City for seven years, the Director of Admissions of Saint Joseph's College in Brooklyn New York, a Recruiter with the Peace Corps in New York City, and a water and sanitation Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya in the early 1980s. Patrick has lived in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Patrick is based in Connecticut.

      Energy Campaign Manager - Union of Concerned Scientists

       

      Megan Rising is the Energy Campaign Manager for the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS). She directs the organization’s efforts to increase the country’s use of renewable energy and reduce our dependence on coal through public education, direct advocacy and grassroots mobilization. Previously, she was Senior Organizer with Corporate Accountability International where she worked on the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. In this role, she built and managed an international coalition which, through lobbying, policy development and grassroots mobilization, secured strong corporate accountability provisions in the global tobacco treaty.

      Megan holds a master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in international climate and energy policy and human security and a B.A. in public policy from Duke University. She is a graduate of Green Corps, a fellowship for environmental organizing.

      Managing Partner, People and Planet Holdings

       

      Shaun Paul began his career in international development with study abroad in Latin America, an internship in Senator Edward Kennedy’s Foreign Policy Office and his first full-time position following his undergraduate studies at the United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service.  

      He is the Founder of EcoLogic Development Fund, an international non-profit organization, where he was the Executive Director for nearly 20 years and responsible for providing seed stage grants and technical assistance for community environmental and social enterprises, and Pico Bonito Forests LLC devoted to commercial tropical reforestation. He also led the incubation of Root Capital that has lent over US$430 million since 1999 to small and growing businesses in Latin America and Africa. 

      He has over 20 years of experience in Latin American economic development, environmental protection, and natural resource management with extensive networks among US donors and social investors.  Shaun Paul is currently launching a private equity fund, People and Planet Holdings, together with Good Capital offering 'whole earth returns' by growing companies in the food, forestry and renewable energy sectors offering blended value investments that protect and restore nature, affirm traditional cultures while creating economic opportunities for traditionally marginalized populations.
